Quote #99, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

I love Quotes. I love them because they make me think. What does the quoter mean? Why did he/she write this? Is there a message to get through to the reader/the world? What did YOU initially think when you read it?

Here goes blog quotes #99....

"All the great speakers were bad speakers at first."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson-

I cannot wait for the comments on this one. We have many public speakers in the audience.

Funny how there is an old wives tale that when asked their biggest fears, people actually list public speaking ahead of death! I liked Emerson's quote because there are some people that think things "just happen". I am of the belief that we humans LEARN through EXPERIENCE. Some people may be a tad more gifted or 'natural' than others, but experience still plays a huge part. No one comes out of the womb as an awesome speaker. This applies to the Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan's and the Brett Favre's of the world as well. Some say they have all natural raw talent. They just 'got it'. I say they may have more than you or I.. but they still put in a BAZILLION countless hours to become masters at their respective crafts.

Attention Public and Professional Speakers.. nows your chance to be heard.......

That's my view....... What say YOU?

Came back to comment on this one. Here is my personal experience: I had an intense fear of being up in front of a group. That is UNTIL I was in a year long leadership program that left me no choice but to get UP there. And so I did. When I shared with my tribe that I was scared sh*tless while speaking in front of the group...no one believed me..... AT ALL. Later, I had to watch myself on film...and dang if some bizarre thing had occured! There was NO evidence of nerves in that footage at all. I could NOT believe it, because inside....I thought I'd die while up there...yet not a bit of it showed. So, I will say, that I DO think some of us are born to be in front of an audiance...AND we get better with experience. What I would say to anyone who shares this fear and wants really badly to get over it....speak, and have yourself video taped...then watch it. You might just be surprised! :) Love & Laughter to all who play here!
