Blog Quote #688...

Here's Blog Quote #688...
"I do dinner in three phases: serve the food, clear the table, bury the dead."
-Phyllis Diller-

A little humor for a Monday morning. Anyone remember the wild hair and big smile of Phyllis Diller? A  pretty talented addition, to the comedic world.

Have a Marvelous Monday!

Blog Quote #687...

Here's Blog Quote #687...
"All the advice in the world will never help you, until you help yourself."
-Fred Van Amburgh-

Advice--- it's good, but it's also a dime a dozen. Sometimes we want it; sometimes we don't. Sometimes we get it unsolicited, and other times we ask and ask, and we can't get any.

Sometimes it's expensive and other times it's free. Some is good and other is not so wonderful. Some comes with an agenda, and other times- strictly for your own good.

One thing for sure...if the person on the receiving end is not willing to take it and somehow put some of the advice to use-- it becomes worthless.

Which usually means the one receiving, has to be ready and committed to take some sort of action. Sometimes getting the advice is the easy part. What to do with it and getting it into action...is another story.

Blog Quote #686...

Here's Blog Quote #686...
"For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson-

When viewed in this light, it seems downright dumb to stay angry for any extended period of time. Plus on top of that, we as humans don't make many smart decisions when we are in a angry or distasteful mood.

So, let's all stop wasting time and energy on being angry. Unless there's a truckload of benefits that come with madness?

Blog Quote #685...

Here's Blog Quote #685...
"There are hazards in everything one does, but there are greater hazards in doing nothing."
-Shirley Williams-

Get out there and do something today.
Why?

A better question is WHY NOT?

Blog Quote #684...

Here's Blog Quote #684...
"The whole world steps aside for the man who knows where he is going."
-Anonymous-

Which leads to the question: Are people stepping aside for you?

If not---back to the think tank, drawing board, or goals hotbed. Onward...

"Neither fire, nor moisture, nor wind can destroy the blessing of a good deed, and it will reform the world." -Buddha-

Do something nice today. Everyone wins!

The receiver of course. The giver too. And the world also wins.
Marvelous advice, Buddha!

Blog Quote #682...

Here's Blog Quote #682...
"If people only knew how hard I work to gain my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all."
-Michelangelo-

An eye opening statement. I think this relates to all people who are masters at what they do. They weren't 'born' with it. Might have had some tendencies, but between birth and mastery--there were countless hours of time, sweat, and effort piled into their excellence.

Don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise. When people, say, "I'd give anything to be able to do that"...would they?  If they truly knew all the perspiration and elbow grease expended, their true answer might be different!

 Food for thought...

"When one finds himself in a hole of his own making, it is a good time to examine the quality of workmanship."
-Jon Remmerde-

Key words...of his own making. This is called accountability and ownership.

Great advice.

Blog Quote #680

Here's Blog Quote #680...
"Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong-by conflict."
-William Ellery Channing-

Sooner or later, life will present each one of us with certain difficulties, of all shapes, sizes, and magnitudes. It's just part of the deal.

So...those who look for the silver lining, and suck it up, and deal with difficulties with the best possible attitude- have the likeliest chance of coming out on top, in the long run.

As Channing suggests here--challenges help the human spirit grow stronger. Something to remember,  WHEN the next difficulty comes our way. Not IF, but WHEN.

Blog quote #679...

Here's Blog Quote #679...
"If you're not fired with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm."
-Vince Lombardi-

Love this quote for 3 reasons:

1. It's succinct.
2. It's filled with irony.
3. It's suggestive and offers both good advice and warning.

Thanks, Coach.
