Blog Quote #635...

Here's Blog Quote #635...
"The main dangers in this life are the people, who want to change everything...or nothing."
-Nancy Astor-

Be ware of wild extremism---on both sides.
If I had to pick one of these though, I'd personally look for people willing to change things... for the better.

Something to ponder over the weekend...

Blog Quote #634...

Here's Blog Quote #634...
"The test of courage comes when we are in the minority. The test of tolerance comes when we are in the majority."
-Ralph Sockman, American Pastor-

How true of both.
If I had to add something...I'd say being in the minority tests your metal a bit more. Not easy to stay convinced and stand amidst the yappers, criticizers, and non-believers. Many a person who gave up, or in, too soon were likely right. If only they didn't get knocked off their belief pedestal, by some negative naysaying Nancy.

Go with your gut. Arm your mind with significant proof. Stand tall and strong against the masses--when they don't believe. After all--it's likely your knowledge and hours invested  in the subject matter,  blows theirs away. The easiest thing in the world--is for someone not engaged or uninformed--to knock something down.

Something to keep in mind!

Blog Quote #633...

Here's blog Quote #633...
"Just because someone has fancy sneakers doesn't mean they can run faster."
-Jon Bon Jovi, American musician-

Its what's inside that counts. Heart matters 100x more than outer shell.

Looks can be, and often are-- deceiving.

As the Aussies say...'All froth and no beer.'

When we read this quote-- that's what popped into our head...what say you?

Blog Quote #632...

Here's blog Quote #632...
"If you're the smartest person in the room, find another room."
-Michael Dell-

Wow  I found Mr Dell's comment very shrewd.

He may be saying watch your ego, and don't revel in it, if you happen to be the sharpest person in the room.

He may also be hinting to always be improving and go to another room to see what you can learn  from others?

There's an old adage...always hang out with people smarter than you..

That's what first popped into my head...Surely there are other interpretations. How did you see it?

Blog Quote #631...

Here's blog Quote #631...
"Don't learn to do, but learn in doing."
-Samuel Butler-

Not quite certain what Butler is getting at here?

I'll take a shot at it. My interpretation:
First, 'learn to do'  vs. 'learn in  doing' is to go through the motions vs. enjoying, or being engaged in the action.

My second thought was  'to do'= get it done without learning much vs. 'learn in doing' implies some absorption and educating of yourself in the process of the do-ing.

In summation, perhaps Butler is suggesting --if we are going to do something-- make sure there is something of value to come from the effort rather than blindly just time wasting, and robotically going through motions?

That's my view---How did you take this quote?

Here's Blog Quote #630...
"Youngsters with good manners- turn into adults with class."
-Deb Moracco-

After a discussion  about lessons to teach children how best to grow into fine young adults, Ms. Morocco offered the above quote.

It seems quite accurate to me. Might be an exception or two, but I'll bet  $100 to a dollar, the following: That parents instilling good manners, and investing time- into teaching their kids these-- will see the dividends, as their sons and daughters reach adulthood.

Yes it takes effort-- but the rewards later on will be priceless, and will surely make the parents-- proud as peacocks.

Blog Quote #629...

Here's Blog Quote #629...
"Truth is the cry of all, but the game of the few."
-George Berkeley-

It's probably unanimous that everyone wants the truth when spoken to. So, as the Golden Rule would  request...let's all do better at  giving it ourselves as well.

This includes commitments, follow-throughs, and polite, yet honest feedback.

No more complicated than that. Everyone--let's raise the bar a little, at least in the truth department.

Blog Quote #628...

Here's Blog Quote #628...
"We have a choice: to plow new ground or to let the weeds grow."
-Virginia Dept of Agriculture brochure, 1959-

~~Move on, and be part of the solution- or sit around on our duffs, complaining and doing nothing.

~~Get better or stay stagnant.

~~Be part of creating something new and exciting with who knows what type potential eventually blooms--or--stay idle and let the old ways hamper and stifle.

It's a line being drawn in the sand. It's a clear choice--going in two totally opposite directions. Choose wisely.

Blog Quote #626...

Here's Blog Quote #626...
When reporters asked this astronaut what he thought about as he sat atop the Redstone Rocket, waiting for liftoff, the reply was ...
"The fact that every part of this ship was built by the low bidder..."
-Alan Shepard, NASA astronaut-

Something to think about, the next time you are purchasing anything that has significance. There is an old saying that is more true than false...'Price. Quality. Service. Pick any 2 of 3 you like.'

Sure, no one liked to be had or ripped off. Of course, we all want the best deal. I wonder how many times the 'best deal' up front was largely determined by price-- and later wished upon, that it was never purchased.

Food for thought...

Blog Quote #625

Here's Blog Quote #625...
"No matter what your past has been, you have a spotless future."
-Anonymous-

What a shame that this is an anonymous quote--but isn't that how life is? Some of the best stuff  comes from humble, quality people--quietly improving the world, one bit at a time.

How superb is this statement? It's 1000% TRUE!

Right now--- today---going forward-- our slate is crystal clean. Sparklingly absent of junk, faultiness, and other bad things.

Let's take advantage of that. Let's leave all baggage and things we are not proud of, behind us.
After all-- it's in the past, it cannot be altered--so leave it there.

Let's make today a productive, helpful, and wonderfully prosperous day. And tomorrow-- REPEAT.

Remember-- for each and every one of us--our future IS spotless! Wow, that's exciting!

Blog Quotes #623 and 624...

Today, a Two-fer--and they are quick and to the point:

Blog Quote #623...
"I am not young enough to know everything."
-Oscar Wilde-

I believe Mr Wilde is spoofing and being a bit sarcastic here. Usually the older you get the wiser you become. And many times-- when talking to youth, they have all the answers. Or, at least they think they do.

Blog Quote #624...
"You practice and you get better. It's very simple."
-Philip Glass, American composer-

Probably a question, aimed at Glass' expertise--asking him how he got so good at his talent. This obviously an understatement, as he could have added  'over, and over, and over, and over' after the word practice.

Also hints at an old adage, when striving for brilliance:There is no elevator to success-- you have to take the stairs!
