Quote #275, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #275...

"The difference between involvement and commitment is like ham and eggs. The chicken is involved. The pig is committed.
-Martina Navratilova-

Holy visual Batman! Do you think a quote could be any more brief to the point and so powerfully descriptive?

What a great summation of the difference between just being involved and being totally 'all in', as they say in poker.
To me, to be involved shows interest, but a commitment makes a statement that whatever the task is... will be completed. It means total effort. Much more sincerity. Much more of a promise. Perhaps that's why many are so scared to make commitments, whether it be a friendship, a business deal, an idea to follow through with, or even a marriage proposal. Next time you are trying to decide whether to commit or not, remember the chicken and the pig.

Quote #274, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #274...

"Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm."
-Winston Churchill-

The wonderful thing about this quote is that if you don't lose your enthusiasm.. the "failures" will not be failures . They will turn into stepping stones that lead to successes.

Failure is almost a poorly termed word. We think of failure as a BAD THING. Failures really are just experiences along the way to finding the right path. The key, as Churchill says, is keeping the chin up. Forging ahead. Not getting dismayed or discouraged. In my opinion, this is what we call a "printable" at The Think Tank. In other words, this one may be worth printing off and keeping for re-review at a moments notice. Perhaps when you have so called"failed". Pull it out, refresh your mind with this quote, and keep moving toward your SUCCESS!

Quote #273, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #273...

"As the purse is emptied, the heart is filled."
-Victor Hugo-

As the purse is emptied, the heart is filled.
To share with another.. aah to be thrilled.

To be philanthropic, to share, to give, to donate.
What else can you do....... to feel so great?

Sure it's nice to receive a treasure.
But oddly, to give, gives you... such pleasure.

So do something nice and watch for their smile
Long live good feelings, they'll last for awhile.

You now know the secret..... so pass it on.
So others can experience.....the GIVING BATON.

note:: T Smith does not claim to be anything near to a poet, but it was fun trying

Quote #272, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #272...

"If people only knew how hard I work to gain my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all."
-Michelangelo-

Two things came to mind when I read this quote. First is that the professionals make things look so "easy". If people knew behind the scenes all that goes into anything that is great, they would be shocked. There is a reason that there are only a few 'masters' who are at the top of their game. It's because most don't have the drive, desire, energy, persistence to do WHAT IT TAKES to be a master of whatever the subject is.

Second, we all wonder how cool it would be to be a star, be the best, be someone that all others look up to. Again we don't recognize the price that these famous people pay for being who they are. Just imagine everywhere you go, someone wants your autograph or wants to talk to you about your specialty. It's a great thing and an honor, but believe me.. the people that handle all the notoriety with class, grace and humbleness, I give a gold star to. Everything, even fame, isn't all its cracked up to be.

Quote #271, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #271...

"Neck ties should be outlawed. How smart is it to start off your day by tying a noose around your neck"
-unknown salesman-

Is this a pitch for the ever growing casual look? Perhaps it's just a stroke of comedy being thrown at us?

I kind of always liked 'dress down day'. Something about being relaxed and wearing comfortable clothes just felt great. I always got more done after 5 pm when the phones shut off. Even Saturday's, when you go into work, you feel like your getting a leg up on the world.

So I'm all for dress down day and getting rid of the tie.. for the most part. There is a time and place for them and certain meetings and/or jobs require them. But something about the psyche, and no tie, and comfort clothes( professional casual) works well with me.How about you?

Quote #270, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #270...

"To educate a man in mind and not morals is to educate a menace to society"
-Teddy Roosevelt-

I couldn't agree more with the former president. The problem is, in my opinion, it appears that the morals of our society are lessening and in decay.

When people start doing whatever they want without the thought of decency to other humans around them.. trouble is around the corner. When selfish acts occur with rapidly increasing frequency, chaos is close by. The golden rule appears to be such a sound and simple concept, yet is it not being taught, forgotten about,or just plain ignored?

Quote #269, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #269...

Some people find fault like there is a reward for it".
-Zig Ziglar-

Know anyone like this? Of course you do. We all do. My advice, avoid them as much as you can. Don't need more negativity in the world. What good is it hanging around someone who is always finding fault?

I always try looking for the 'good' in people. You normally don't have to search too hard to find it, for whatever that advice is worth?

Quote #268, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #268...

"You know your in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams."
-Dr Seuss-

Yeah , its a little sappy. But so what. Any lovebirds feel like commenting on this one? It's pretty special and it does exist. And the fact that reality can be as good or better than dreams is pretty cool.

Hey, someone once said.. let your dreams come true. It happens in LOVE as well.

Quote #267, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #267...

"I looked at the acronym 'WTF' and said, I know what that means... "Wow That's Funny!, right?"
-Steve's little 9 year old brother-

You never know what's going through the mind of a child. I like this acronym better. And it fits. Many times when you are thinking WTF/ are you kidding me/ are you serious?.... it's a comical scenerio.. well sort of.

So.... 'Why That's Funny' does fit well. I'm going with it from here on. Ahhh, what we can learn from the youth of the world!

Quote #266, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #266...

"For the things we have to learn before we can do, we learn by doing."
-Kris Hobart, Australia-

I thought this was a great quote accompanied by the first ever funny picture on the Smile-Therapy Think Tank. Have a look at this cute baby picture..

Quote #265, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #265...

"I believe in hard work. It keeps the wrinkles out of the mind and spirit."
-Helena Rubinstein-

Did you ever notice the people who forgo "retirement" and keep working? Even if it isn't officially in the business world. The people that are always moving, doing something. My father is first that comes to mind. He is more than well past the 'so called' retirement age of 65. Yet he has always said he would never retire. He enjoys his work, it keeps him busy both mentally and physically. It also keeps him in touch with the real world. He couldn't be more bored with the thought of moving to Florida, playing golf and bridge every day, having a 6 pm dinner/ martini, and going home to watch TV at 7 30 and falling asleep by 8 30. Never gonna happen for him.

Next I think of a 86 year old woman who is at every single game of her six grandkids. Boy do they keep her busy, and that woman has more energy than the Eveready bunny. A third lady who is also well into her 80's walks every day, does a ton of volunteer work, helps out the church about 10 hrs a week, and is also EXTREMELY active in watching her grandkids play sports and band.

Apparently, the lesson here is keep moving and have plenty to do on your schedule. Nothing greater than seeing a senior with twice the energy of a teenager. Thanks to my Dad, Mrs Brennan and Byrne, and all the older folk who inspire us daily.

Quote #264, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #264...

"We make our decisions, and then our decisions turn around and make us."
-R.W.Boreham-

Quite the ironic quote huh?? The old flip-er-oo.

I've heard the saying more than once that the decisions and choices we make today will directly influence how our tomorrows will turn out. I believe it's true as it usually takes a bit of time for things to play out, once you have put things in motion.

Therefore, you need to be wise and cautious and careful about your decisions today. The outcomes for you and many people connected to you depend upon your selections and daily moves. Good luck!
