Most important instrument...of Leadership

Blog quote #1217...
"If I had to name a single, all-purpose instrument of leadership, it would be communication. If you cannot communicate, you will not lead others effectively."  -John W Gardner-
Anyone agree? Worth assessing current communication skills and giving an honest analysis of effectiveness?

Greatness and Madness...

Blog quote #1216...
"No great mind has ever existed, without a touch of madness."  -Aristotle-
The great ones are always 'out there' a bit. Some say crazy, others zany. Perhaps brilliance comes with a lot of misunderstanding. For by definition, the truly cranially gifted see things on a whole different plane than the rest of us.
Not unlike any other talent. When one is truly blessed or superb at something, it leaves  others in awe, often scratching their heads.
Overall, we tend to agree with Aristotle.  How about you?

A toast...to the TEACHER

Blog quote #1215...
"An understanding heart is everything in a teacher, and cannot be esteemed highly enough. One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feeling." Carl Jung-
Let's all tip our cap, raise a glass, and give a salute to all our teachers out there.
Clearly and ever increasingly, one of the more challenging occupations on the planet. Likely one of the more underrated and underappreciated professions, as well.

Attention all who SING in the car...

Blog quote #1214...
"Oh, give us the man who sings at work." -Thomas Carlyle-
Or sings anywhere for that matter. We believe Carlyle was referring to a good attitude as most people who sing are generally in a good mood. And how refreshing is that to have other employees, actually happy at work.
When you sing in the shower, are you in a good mood? When you sing in the car, are you happy? Bring on the singers!

A note...on Perseverance

Blog quote #1213...
"Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races, one after another." -Walter Elliott-
It's all about hanging around. Grinding it out. Sticking tough until the tide turns. And eventually, if we apply a good deal of patience and perspiration, the tide does begin to flow our way.

One of the most Valuable Assets in society...

Blog quote #1212...
"A good father, is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society." -Billy Graham-
Attention Dad's all over the world--please read this and let it sink into your core. For it's a bold statement, yet as most of Billy Graham's comments are-- it's 100% on the mark.

Thank you, and God bless all fathers, on this Father's Day, 2018...

Father's day story...

Blog quote #1211...
A father overheard his son at night...
"Dear God, make me the kind of father my daddy is."
Later that night the father prayed...
"Dear God, please help make me the kind of man my son wants me to be."

Simply beautiful on both ends. Happy Fathers day, all...

Note for Quitters?

Blog quote #1210...
"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." -Thomas Edison-
Some quotes simply speak for themselves. This is one of them. Keep trying!

Unplugged?

Blog quote #1209...
"Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes. Including you." -Anne Lamott-
How great is that observation? In this stress filled world, where everyone seems to be  jogging on that never ending hamster wheel...what a great reminder.
Yes, all of us need to stop occasionally, and recharge the batteries. Go do something fun. Relax. Don't take work and life so serious. As someone once wisely pointed out: "Life... we aren't getting out of it alive anyway, so lighten up!"

What do Gardens and Children have in common?

Blog quote #1208...
"A man's children and his garden both reflect the amount of weeding done, during the growing season." -EveryWishes.com-
What is planted will be sprouted. What is sowed will be reaped. Sounds like weeding is tedious, bothersome, and laborious, yet an important part of growth for the plants. The kids too...

Taking the high road ...

Blog quote #1207...
"When you take the high road, some people may mistake that for weakness, but the truth is--that is a sure sign-- of STRENGTH." -Joel Osteen-
Anyone can cave in to the easy way or what the crowd is doing or looking for. The ones who take a stand and do what they think is right, regardless if it goes along with public opinion- are the ones who deserve applause.
Not easy to do what we think is right, but following our hearts and moral compasses will always pay dividends- long term.

A common mistake--that others can CERTAINLY learn from

Blog quote #1206...
"Don't wait for a crisis to discover what is important in your life."- Anonymous-
Guilty as charged on this one. Anyone else made that mistake before? Well, I guess that's why we write about these things--so others can learn from our previous misfortunes and screw-ups.
Good words to ponder for the weekend. Give that one some thought.

What is takes, to be a Professional...

Blog quote #1205...
"To be a professional, you have to be a life long learner. You're always getting better. You are always trying to get better."- Mike Kenny-
Obviously improvement isn't for everyone. Many choose to live on Get By Lane, Mediocre Drive, or OK Ave. And that's ok.
But for those who want to give life their all and do their best, some striving and effort comes into play. If nothing else, something to think about.

Why is this...?

Blog quote #1204...
"Those in the free seats are the first to hiss."- unknown-
Lack of gratitude/appreciation? Don't value 'free?' Other? Whatever the answer, it's a sad state, whenever it happens.
