Quote #388, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #388...

In a free country there is much clamor, with little suffering. In a despotic state there is little complaint, with much grievance."
-Carnot-

Quote #387, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog Quote #387...

"It has always been my belief that a man should do his best, regardless of how much he receives for his services, or the number of people he may be serving, or the class of people served."
-Dr. Napoleon Hill-

Funny when Hill wrote this, I don't think he had our armed forces in mind. Most likely the business folk.

Looking at this quote though, it applies to our brave military in the largest sense. They certainly are doing their best, given the difficult task, conditions, and orders thay have to follow and work with. You certainly couldn't pay these people enough... for how much is risking your life every day worth? Finally, the people, they are serving is you and I. And it's quite a large number to serve. Can you say an entire population?

So on this Memorial Day weekend, and every day, let us bow our heads and salute our bravest citizens. Without them, who knows where we would be. I'm certain of this:: not as safe and fortunate as we are with them. Thank you to all who have served.

Quote #386, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #386...

"When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on the earth. So what the hell, leap."
-Cynthia Heimel-

Sounds to me like the rewards far out weigh the risk here. Chance to be brilliant, versus someone thinking you are a goofball. It's likely that you won't truly look that goofy or idiotic. It's kind of sad when you think of the possibility of someone truly making a difference in peoples lives, by going out on a limb, and how many times it gets snuffed out, do to fear of making a fool of themselves.

I say go for it. Much to gain, and very little to lose. So what if someone laughs at you. It's not the end of the world. But bringing something incredible to the table.. could be life altering!

Quote #385, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #385...

"A yawn is nature's way of giving the person listening to a bore, an opportunity to open his mouth."
-Bob Phillips-

This mornings quote on BORING people is pretty self explanatory. Quite witty as well.

Got to love those double meaning quotes!

Quote #384, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Heres goes blog quote #384...

"When you feel dog tired at night, maybe it's because you did a bit too much growling all day long."
-Author unknown-

How about a bit of humor heading into the weekend. Who can't use more of that?

Also, as funny as this quote is, it's something to think about. Sometimes the truth is a bit on the hurtful side, yet we all need an 'about face', kick in the pants, every now and then.

Quote #383, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #383...

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony."
-Mahatma Gandhi-

The infamous Gandhi always has such wisdom to share. Are you in harmony or are you on disconnect mode?

Are your thoughts, your words, and your actions all on the same page? Are they matching up, or are they all going in different directions?

Similar to a texas twister storm, disconnect and disarray can lead to a messy outcome. Best to get all three things flowing on the same path. Ahh, and when they are... can you feel the peace? The comfort? The body, mind, and spirit, all in sync.

Sync. Cohesion. Harmony. Three things that are very good for all of us.

Quote #382, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #382...

"Trust your hunches. They are usually based on facts, filed just below the conscious level."
-Dr Joyce Brothers-

HMMMM....

I have a feeling that there is some truth to this quote. And it's funny how many times your first impression is correct. Not always, but a strong percentage of the time. The "gut" is no slouch either.

Quote #381, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #381...

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
-Matthew 6:34-

This quote is relevant to anyone. At any age.

How much time do we spend worry about the future? Sadly much of our concern never even materializes down the road... thus wasted energy.

Pay attention to today's tasks at hand. For if we grossly overlook them, soon, tomorrow's problems aren't even a factor, and today's issues must be dealt with. Partly in thanks to the ignorance. Oops!

Quote #380, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #380...

"The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn't being said."
-Peter Drucker-

Listening. Tough thing to do. Not many of us do it well.

Mr Drucker offers a bit of an oxymoron here. How can we hear what isn't being said? Well he is playing on words a bit.

Focus. Paying attention. Being engaged in conversation. Being present. Observing. Watching for hand movements and body language. Repeating what you thought you heard. Repeating what you thought was implied.

It's all part of being a good listener. Which usually goes hand in hand with a good communicator.

Quote #379, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes blog quote #379...

Days are expensive. When you spend a day, you have one less day to spend. So, make sure you spend each one wisely."
-Jim Rohn-

Did you ever notice people sometimes live life like it goes on forever? Wasted time, no urgency, procrastinating, putting things off 'til another day.

Life is short. Maximize each day. Every moment.

Quote #378, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog Quote #378...

"If you were to ask me 14 years ago, can you play in 2000 consecutive games, can you play in every single game for this amount of years, I'd say no way, that's impossible.'
-Cal Ripken Jr-

Impossible. Big word.

It's so big, so difficult, that it's almost impossible to be impossible. Really.

Think of every difficult or huge task. At first blush, we always think it's impossible. Yet when broken down, bit by bit, piece by piece, it becomes managable.

How does David slay Goliath? Little by little, blow by blow. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. How the heck did Cal Ripken Jr ever play in every single game, 2000 plus games, for 14 straight years? One game at a time.

There is a big lesson to be learned in this blog. You know what... it's not impossible to find it.

Quote #377, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #377...

"I can resist everything, but temptation."
-Oscar Wilde-

As always, got to love the double meaning or the oxymoronic quotes. That temptation can be a tough thing to not succumb to.

Factors usually include will power, drive, motive, and guts. Look at all the people trying to lose weight. How about the numbers who are "quitting smoking." Next how many New Year's resolutions fall by the wayside to temptation?

Heck, per the bible, we wouldn't even be here if Adam and Eve didn't give in to temptation. Nobody said it was easy. Especially Oscar Wilde.

Personally, I believe the mind is THEE most powerful thing in the universe and if you want something bad enough, you stay focused and resist all the detractors. More easily said than done. Most things that are worthwhile don't come easy though, do they?

"There is no way to be a perfect mother, and a million ways to be a good one."
-Jill Churchill-

I'm sure there are many good Mothers day quotes, songs and stories floating around today. Each and every one of them is well deserved.

Here's a salute to all MOM's! One of the most difficult, underrated, stressful, yet rewarding and ultra important jobs ever, in the world.

Quote #374, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #374...

"If you feel the need to complain about something, make sure you are prepared to present a well thought out solution."
-Todd Smith-

I love this for many reasons. First, what's the point of bitching or complaining for no reason. Who wants to hear it? It's negative. It's a mood crusher.

Second, read Smith's comment carefully. If you do want to complain, then give a solution as well. Like my father used to say in business... don't just dump problems on my desk. If you must bring them in, and/or you need assistance, that is fine, but have a few ideas that may help out the problem as well.

Part two, upon further dissection of Smith's quote, it says a WELL THOUGHT OUT solution. The worst is complaining, then offering a half baked suggestion that has no chance or is a fantasy land answer. Give it some good thoughtful effort, and try to offer options that may truly help the issue at hand.

My hat is off to Mr. Todd Smith. Excellent quote here!

Quote #373, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog Quote #373...

"If you are not seated at the table, you are on the menu."
-Anonymous-

Anyone care to take a shot at what this one translates to them?

If you don't show up, you are fair game to be discussed?
Be there to have your vote counted?

This is a puzzler that may just have several interpretations. Want to take a shot?

Quote #372, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #372...

"Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier."
-Mother Teresa-

Interesting. At this point in time, I keep coming across similar messages. Help others first. It's better to put another's needs in front of yours. Givers gain. It's better to give than to receive.

For me, every day, the message is sinking in louder and clearer. Don't you just feel better, when you help another out?

Recently I've met 3 different people, all with the same message or mantra. Their prime goal when they meet someone is : to see how they CAN HELP THAT PERSON OUT. Oddly, one is a sales coach, another is a motivational speaker and life coach, and the third is just a wonderful person who is a consumer advocate helping people when they are dealing with problems with big bureaucrats. His title... 'Chief of Helping People.'

Could that be the best TITLE in the world or what? Sure beats out CEO, Director of Sales, or Vice President of whatever, in my book.

Maybe if we all borrowed that title, 'Chief of Helping People', for a day (or 2 or 10), the world would be a little better place to live? Hmmmm....

Quote #371, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #371...

"Dig a well before you are thirsty."
-Chinese proverb-

This could also be called pre-networking. Maybe even planting seeds and tilling them for days, months, even years? The idea here is to start forming your relationships well(no pun intended) before you'll ever "need" them.

It's also called planning. Some might even look at it as preperation. The great marketing and envelope genius Harvey Mackay wrote a book with this title... 'How to dig your well before you are thirsty.' It's filled with great lessons and ideas.

The old adage is ringing in my ear as I type this... 'He who fails to plan, plans to fail (maybe Coach Wooden's quote?). So, it might not be a bad idea to start a little digging. Summer's coming ,and it tends to get quite hot!

Quote #370, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote #370...

"Look at everything as though you were seeing it for the first time or the last time. Then, your time on earth will be filled with glory."
-Betty Smith-

The first time, it's new. It's fresh. It's exciting.

The last time, it's an appreciation thing. A final ending thing. We've all heard the line, 'you don't know how good it is until it's gone.' Another classic sad but true line... "Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes."

Here's the problem... we have no idea when our last time of doing anything is. Therefore, taking Betty Smith's advice will likely result in you really enjoying things much more than mundanely going through life. GET INTO LIFE!

Quote #369, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

Here goes Blog quote 369...

" A small dot can stop a big sentence. But a few more dots can give it a continuity. May every ending be a new beginning. Think Positive. You will achieve everything."
-Mukesh Majithia-

Pretty cool commentary on a DOT. Honestly, I never thought of a dot (period, or series of periods) in that regard. I'm all for continuing on and having endings and new beginnings.

How about you?
