On Regrets(Do you have any...?) BQ #708

"Life is too short to have regrets. If anyone has any, they should start today, and make today good, tomorrow better, and everyday after great."
-Kurt Kraus, famous landscaper, and wise man-

No Regrets. We've all heard others, when they get to the end and say "If I had it to do all over again, I'd blank, blank, and blank."

Well, here's a brilliant and uncomplicated question(we like uncomplicated)--Why wait until the end? Why not start working on our 'regrets list' today, and make them obsolete when our time comes?

There's one to put on 'the list to do' in 2015.
Regrets--don't have any. Live like Mr Kraus above suggests.

Why People Judge Others...BQ #707

"Thinking is difficult. That is why most people judge."
-Carl Jung-

Hmm...
As humans we do tend to trend toward the easiest choice. The path of least resistance. And why take the effort to get to know the real someone?  Heaven forbid we dig in, do some homework, get the facts. Man, that's real work.

Easier to judge. Sit back and critique. Fit in with the others, who fail to get to know the real deal. Sad? Yes. True?  More so, than not.

Lesson here:
Think. Do. Learn.
Don't judge. Just because it's easier, doesn't make it right.

Thanks Carl for making us all think...

Good Definition of Semi-Retired...BQ #706

"I haven't retired. I have semi-retired. To me, semi-retired means you stop doing things because you have to and you start doing  things that you have always wanted to."
-C.A Braga-

Thought this quote was on the money. Everyone has a different vision for what retirement is to them. Personally, I could only take so many card games, rounds of golf, and eating a scheduled lunch at noon every day.

I want to keep learning , helping, and doing-for the rest of my waking years. Sure maybe not work as many hours per day, and perhaps travel the planet a bit more, but still impact the world in a positive way, the best that I can, while I can.

How about you?
And...anyone else think Mr Braga is on the right track here?

Eliminating WORRY from the vocabulary...

(Blog quote #705)

"The German word for worry means 'to strangle.' The Greek word means 'to divide the mind.' Both are accurate. Worry is a noose on the neck and a distraction of the mind, neither which is befitting for joy."
-Max Lucado-

What a clear and vivid description- for what worry truly means. Let's all try to eliminate worry as much as we can in the 2015 year. It's evident--that worry is a predominantly useless thing.

Blog Quote #703( Tending to your own business)

Here's blog quote #703 ( Tending to your own business)

"We've all been given vast talents. When we concern ourselves with our neighbors talents, we neglect our own. But, if we concern ourselves with our own talents, we could inspire both."
-Max Lucado-

The message here is-- do your best with your own God given talents.

Stop worrying about the Jones' the Smith's and the Williams.' When you become the best YOU can be--you will invariably end up benefitting others.

The other way- you lack focus and end up just wasting your own skills and potential creations.

Blog quote #701 &702..(Unlimited Belief)

Here's blog quote #701 &702 (On Unlimited Belief)

"I'm looking for a lot of men with an infinite capacity--for not knowing what can't be done."
-Henry Ford-

"It's not what are we going to do today..it's what aren't we going to do today?"
-Ferris Bueller-

Can you say big imaginations?
People that  want to jump as high as they can, or go as far as they are capable.

Ever see a young kid at a task? They just go and go and go. Here's why. They don't know any different. They haven't reached a stage where 276 adults have told them no, or they can't do it or 'what are they, crazy..?'  etc.  etc.

Or how about a dog with one of those hard, compacted rawhide bones. How the heck do they ever tackle that? Again, they just jump in and start gnawing, and keep gnawing, relentlessly, until 2 hrs later- they got to the whole darn thing.

No one told them they couldn't chew that ridiculously hard bone, or 'be careful Rover, your teeth might break.'

Let's, as Ford suggests, look for those willing to try, to say'yes,' to step beyond their comfort zone, and  yes--to eventually amaze us all, including themselves.

Or as the legendary Ferris Bueller suggests, simply...THINK BIG..

Blog Quote #699...(It's always better somewhere else- or is it?)

Here's Blog Quote #699...(It's always better somewhere else- or is it?)

"I have learned not to look for the greener grass on the other side of the fence. I look for a SMILE on the face of the cow."
-Gary Gulbranson-

Two things popped into my head  when absorbing this quote. First, it's not always greener on the other side. Difficulties are everywhere. People have a tendency to run away from their current troubles-- as if they a.) won't follow them and/or b.)  be re-created in the new setting. Not 100%-- but it's likely not the setting, but the person who is creating the challenges.

Second, it's not in the hype, but in the actions of people, that we can find the real story of what's better and what's worse. In this simple statement...the Smile of the cow  shows that whether the grass is green, blue, or orange--since the cow is happy,  it might be worth looking into.

Today's food for thought...

Blog Quote #698 (Ask why?...)

Here's Blog Quote #698...(Ask why?...)
"When someone says no, ask 'why?' How else will you learn?
-Kathy Ireland-

Pretty smart advice here from the former Sports Illustrated  swim suit queen-pin.  Most successful people don't take no for an answer very easily. Persistence and ant like perseverance is a likely contributor to their lifetime achievements.

Also, a good inquisitive attitude also helps. Maybe there is a darn good reason for the denial? Or perhaps it's a smokescreen that can easily be pressed through- for those willing to charge ahead.

Either way, there is an opportunity to learn from the one who said no. Ask and see what they say. Certainly nothing bad will come out of the question. More likely, much good can and will result...from asking why/why not.

"Nothing is easier than saying words. Nothing is harder, than living them day after day."
-Arthur Gordon-

Do you know anyone who is full of hot air? Gibberish. Yonkey. They tell you one thing and never plan on acting it out. In other words, after one or two statements from them, you learn not to believe in what they say?

Unfortunately, I also  know many of these people. Too many. In fact it's a rarity to find humans, who do control their words to match their actions. Sad but true.

Let's all look for more people, to do as their words say.  What a concept, huh? Hold people, more accountable. Everyone wins. The world becomes a better place to live.

What a powerful descriptive quote for six words.King uses this with his workforce when he is implementing slow but effective change. The cultural positive shift that he refers to is a dose of reality and good, quality management.

It's real world change--and how it happens. Like the line, 'there's no elevator to success; you have to take the stairs'--this is a similar description of how authentic, IMPACTFUL change happens. Slow and steady, yet, with measurable results.

Perhaps all of us can learn a thing or two from King's mantra.

This hinting at...just get the job done, rather than finding excuses and covering that with the blanket..."Well I did my best." Did you really to do all you could do--to make sure the mission got completed?

A thorough inquiry into that last question will almost always return with the answer: NO.

Blog Quote #687...

Here's Blog Quote #687...
"All the advice in the world will never help you, until you help yourself."
-Fred Van Amburgh-

Advice--- it's good, but it's also a dime a dozen. Sometimes we want it; sometimes we don't. Sometimes we get it unsolicited, and other times we ask and ask, and we can't get any.

Sometimes it's expensive and other times it's free. Some is good and other is not so wonderful. Some comes with an agenda, and other times- strictly for your own good.

One thing for sure...if the person on the receiving end is not willing to take it and somehow put some of the advice to use-- it becomes worthless.

Which usually means the one receiving, has to be ready and committed to take some sort of action. Sometimes getting the advice is the easy part. What to do with it and getting it into action...is another story.

An eye opening statement. I think this relates to all people who are masters at what they do. They weren't 'born' with it. Might have had some tendencies, but between birth and mastery--there were countless hours of time, sweat, and effort piled into their excellence.

Don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise. When people, say, "I'd give anything to be able to do that"...would they?  If they truly knew all the perspiration and elbow grease expended, their true answer might be different!

"Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong-by conflict."
-William Ellery Channing-

Sooner or later, life will present each one of us with certain difficulties, of all shapes, sizes, and magnitudes. It's just part of the deal.

So...those who look for the silver lining, and suck it up, and deal with difficulties with the best possible attitude- have the likeliest chance of coming out on top, in the long run.

As Channing suggests here--challenges help the human spirit grow stronger. Something to remember,  WHEN the next difficulty comes our way. Not IF, but WHEN.

"Give me a stock clerk with a goal, and I'll give you a man who will make history. Give me a man with no goals and I'll give you a stock clerk."
-J.C. Penney-

This quote from a man who has seen quite a few stock clerks and cashiers in his day. No disrespect to those two positions, or any title for that matter. The world needs all parts filled  to make things work well and function up to snuff.

So... the question: Goals. Visions. Game plans.Strategies. Any of this important to you?

Most of the super successful have seen things in their mind, before that have achieved them in real life. Many studies support  the value of goals. I believe they help to know where you want to go and how you envision it happening( not that it ever goes as planned, as life is full of surprises.) However it does help to think, plan and strategize up front.

"When a resolute young fellow steps up to the great bully, (the world),and takes him boldly by the beard, he is often surprised to find it come off in his hand, and that it was only tied on --to scare away the timid adventurers." -Ralph Waldo Emerson-

How true is this statement? Don't you find often we are incredibly scared to step out of our comfort zone, and try something new or take on a different challenge? As Emerson so rightly points out-- when we do, we frequently discover that there wasn't much to be scared of after all, except--the unknown.

And one of the beauties of life, is that many a time--the unknown turns out to be fun, refreshing, exciting, and knowledge gaining. Even all the above.

Blog Quote #670

Here's Blog Quote #670...
"A hero is born among a hundred, a wise man is found among a thousand, but an accomplished one might not be found even among a hundred thousand men."   -Plato-

Taking nothing away from heroes and wise men, the wildly accomplished are tough to find.

The reality is, it's extremely hard to be fully accomplished. On the mental aspect, people tend to limit themselves. They find reasons and excuses why something cannot be done. They lack belief and courage. Desire and will power becomes soft if there isn't a full, all out commitment. Not to mention there are plenty of distractions and roadblocks along the way looking to grab your focus.

As stated, it's rigorously tough to be a highly accomplished individual. On the plus side, many have done it before us...so it is doable.  Heroes are awesome. Wise men are always welcome. And accomplished people sometimes just need support and encouragement to continue on their quest, whatever that may be.

Hats and Caps off to all heroes, wise men and accomplished people. Onward we go...

Blog quote #664...

Here's Blog Quote #664...
"We get little wisdom from success."
-William Saroyan, American writer-

This quote is powerful because it's so accurate, yet it's not thought about often.

Think about whenever you lose. Whether it's a sporting event, a job proposal, a tryout for the play, or even asking someone out on a date. What's the first thing we all do? Well maybe not everyone, but those that want to improve our chances for success the next time. Those who want self- improvement or better.

We think about the scenario. We replay it in our minds, asking self, what could we have done better? Could we have tried this, tweaked that, eliminated that move or added this twist? We scrutinize, analyze, and compartmentalize. Why? How?  What if?  And that's a good thing. That is how we all get better.

Versus the winner. They go celebrate, they yuck it up. They do press conferences, get congratulated and do all the fun and positive things that winners get to do. That's ok.

Here's the interesting thing...many times the difference between winning and losing isn't much at all.  Perhaps, even in winning, there is room for improvement and re-looking at all that transpired and still try to raise the bar next time? In fact--that is what the best of the best do. Win OR lose, they are always trying to improve.

So, next time, in victory or defeat--just look at it as a learning experience and a chance to step up your game for a more improved experience next time. In contrast to Saroyan's comment--- much wisdom CAN come from defeat.

"Put a smile in the path of a complaint...once, daily."
-Sam Parker-

This one seems up for interpretation. We'll take a shot at it.

If someone mentions a complaint( which is as common as Alaskan snow), try to break it up. Throw in a comment of 'goodness.' Ask them why they are complaining, and, if there is a more optimistic spin they can shed light on?

The key here--is not to pile on that complaint with another one, as it feeds itself. Pretty soon, it's turned into a session of gripes and grumbles. Do what you can, to shift the conversation back to a more positive one.

Here's Blog Quote #660...
"The true art of memory is the art of attention."
-Samuel Johnson-

Be sure to give your time and attention to those in the armed forces--past, present, and future; and their families. Make a concentrated effort to do that today, tomorrow, and every day.

Thank you to all who serve our country. It's truly a debt hard to repay, but certainly one that we all should be able to give you the attention and respect you so deserve.

Happy Memorial Day.

It's up to you: Get discouraged or get determined. Get bitter or get better. Focus on liabilities or possibilities."

Three choices here.

"The only safe ship in a storm is leadership."
-Faye Wattleton-

A reminder for all leaders. That includes business execs, managers, and officers. It also encompasses coaches, mentors, teachers, parents, and other leaders of the world.

Whoever is at your tutelage, whenever challenges, obstacles, or troubles arise-- it's at that moment- when leadership is most important.  Food for thought.

"The trouble with trouble-is that it usually starts out as fun."
-Frank Otis-

It kind of sneaks up on you. Never see it coming until its upon you. This was spoken during a weekend getaway of 'fun' with the gang. It sounds a bit redundant, but the more you think about it-- it has its merits!

Blog Quote #655...

Here's Blog Quote #655...
"Difficulty is the excuse history never accepts."
-Edward R. Murrow, American newsman-

Most things that appear in the history books are about things that happened.  The stuff that doesn't happen or get done- is usually laying in the 'excuse drawer.'

If you want to make the history books, become a doer, instead of a coulda, shoulda, woulda type person.

On further thought- regardless of making history or not--still strive to be a person who gets things done, versus talking about why they didn't.

"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live."
-Jim Rohn-

Rohn had some of the best messages of any motivator of the 20th century.
In this piece, he's giving us a gentle reminder to keep a more keen eye on our physical health. In our quest to get ahead and stay productive in the 'rat race'--many times we ignore our health, until the body breaks down. It's a tough organism--but the body does have it's limits.

And we only have one of them. While today's medical technologies are full of advancements-- most of the new parts are not as good as our creator's originals, and come with limitations. Thanks Jim

"When I was a young man, I observed that nine out of 10 things I did- were failures. I didn't want failure, so I did 10 times more work."
-George Bernard Shaw, famous playwright-

What a splendid attitude. We all should strive to be like Shaw. You see, his 90% failures were a.) not uncommon and b.) not truly failures. They are just life lessons along the way--presuming you learn,  and,  you don't quit.

In fact, many of us 'fail' like Shaw. The trick, as he does, is to keep going. The successes are there-- just a bit up the road.

Blog Quote #651...

Here's Blog Quote #651...
"High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation."
-Charles  Kettering, American Inventor-

Just this AM, I had my thoughts ready to type, and on a final re-reading of this--I saw a different spin, a new angle, if you will.

I originally saw this as when we give people high expectations, they almost always perform better, that if we give low expectations or none at all. Can we all agree on that?

But then--what about the expectations of the achiever themselves?  There are instances where people, are just gifted,or have mad skills at something and it seems to come EASIER  that to others. I 'll clarify here that most superstars or high achievers, while it looks like it came easy to them--it didn't. However, relative to others, some things do flow easier for some, in certain areas.

Back to Kettering's statement --As with other's expectations for us, when we raise our own bars of what we want to accomplish--it doesn't ALWAYS take place, but more frequent than not, a higher expectation of self will generally produce a higher outcome.

Hmm..

#647..."Men in general judge more from appearances than from reality. All men have eyes, but few have the gift of penetration."

-Swift, 'Polite Conversation'-

#649..."Things are seldom what they seem. Skim milk masquerades as cream."
-W.S.Gilbert-

You get the point. Be careful to take a good, long look inside, underneath, up and down, all around, and under the hood. Many a thing looked better under initial impressions than what actually was the real deal. Just ask Little Red Riding Hood.

Agreed 100%.

As far as I know, not many, if any, like a mooch, a leech, or someone that is lazy and sponges off one another, or the system.  You know them-- The guy who never buys a drink. The one who always eats dinner yet never picks up the tab. The ones who conveniently forgot their wallet.

Doctors know how to do surgery and what the latest prescriptions are that supposedly treat  conditions. They may not be up on all the alternative methods for optimal healing.

Here's Blog Quote #641...
"There is nothing so stupid as an educated man, if you get off the thing that he was educated in."
-Will Rogers-

When I read this, I thought of my 23 yr old daughter who is often intimidated by others who have much more schooling than her 4 year degree. I always tell her :

There are book smart people. There are street smart people. Some are blessed with both.

Also-every person you meet, knows something that you don't know. All of us can learn something from another fellow human.

The world is too big, with gazillions of pieces of info to know.. so none of us are too smart for the next person. Always listen well, and see what you can learn from the other. With that stated don't be intimidated by others. If they know more in a few subjects than you do-- so what. Good for them. Chances are you more about another subject, than they do. Touche'

Like all else I life  the more time you spend at something the more experience and knowledge you gain. it doesn't make any of us better or worse than each other. Respect for all humans.

Blog Quote #639...

Here's Blog Quote #639...
"A tax problem- is the best problem to have."
-John 'Duke' Kinney, insurance  legend

The tax 'problem Mr Kinney was talking about came up in context  over a discussion of hitting the lottery or coming into an unexpected windfall.  It's an exercise in the mind--immediately thinking of the negative tax cost, versus the positive pondering-of receiving some good fortune.Glass half full or half empty?

Another incident of a nice tax problem-- is when people say they had to pay the government a ton of money in taxes. The discussion of how much is a fair rate to pay for your wages, is always on the table.

Regardless, the having to pay a decent amount in taxes-- is usually a direct correlation that they had a pretty solid year, income wise.

Personally, I'd take the $88,000 winning lotto ticket, and gladly pay back $35k to Uncle Sam. It's still a net $53k-- for the good guys...

Blog Quote #638...

Here's Blog Quote #638...
"Success begins with totally believing  in yourself, understanding the val-u  that "u" have, the positive impact that "u" make in this world, and discovering that "u" already are- who"u" are trying to be."
-Chuck Bartlett, motivation guru-

Wow--powerful statement, with quite a bit going on here.
Since I'm a simple man, let's try to break this one down, in bites:

1.) Do you 100% believe in yourself?
2.) Do you understand the value that you have, and what you are to deliver, and why you are here on this planet?
3.) Do you recognize and totally grasp the positive impact that you make--in and on the world?
4.) Have you figured out who you are trying to be, where you are most comfortable, and what is the best use of your skills and talents( in real estate--often called "highest and best use.")

We agree that success will come...when we determine the answers to these 4 questions.
To get there, is another task in itself.  Bartlett has spelled out a very nice, albeit challenging homework assignment here. Are you up for taking it on?

The rewards of success await those who truly figure out these four questions. Nice work Chuck.

"The test of courage comes when we are in the minority. The test of tolerance comes when we are in the majority."
-Ralph Sockman, American Pastor-

How true of both.
If I had to add something...I'd say being in the minority tests your metal a bit more. Not easy to stay convinced and stand amidst the yappers, criticizers, and non-believers. Many a person who gave up, or in, too soon were likely right. If only they didn't get knocked off their belief pedestal, by some negative naysaying Nancy.

Go with your gut. Arm your mind with significant proof. Stand tall and strong against the masses--when they don't believe. Blog Quote #631...

Here's blog Quote #631...
"Don't learn to do, but learn in doing."
-Samuel Butler-

Not quite certain what Butler is getting at here?

I'll take a shot at it. My interpretation:
First, 'learn to do'  vs. 'learn in  doing' is to go through the motions vs. enjoying, or being engaged in the action.

My second thought was  'to do'= get it done without learning much vs. 'learn in doing' implies some absorption and educating of yourself in the process of the do-ing.

In summation, perhaps Butler is suggesting --if we are going to do something-- make sure there is something of value to come from the effort rather than blindly just time wasting, and robotically going through motions?

That's my view---How did you take this quote?

"Youngsters with good manners- turn into adults with class."
-Deb Moracco-

After a discussion  about lessons to teach children how best to grow into fine young adults, Ms. Morocco offered the above quote.

It seems quite accurate to me. Might be an exception or two, but I'll bet  $100 to a dollar, the following: That parents instilling good manners, and investing time- into teaching their kids these-- will see the dividends, as their sons and daughters reach adulthood.

Something to think about, the next time you are purchasing anything that has significance. There is an old saying that is more true than false...'Price. Quality. Service. Pick any 2 of 3 you like.'

A wise man once said--"There's no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs." We agree.

Blog Quote #613...

Here's Blog Quote #613...
"Slumps are like a soft bed. They're easy to get into and hard to get out of."
-Johnny Bench,  Hall of Fame baseball player-

Can anyone relate here? Assuming we all can--then what to do with a slump?

We recommend that you do exactly as you do--on getting out of bed. After two taps on the snooze button, and a few grunts and groans--grin and bear it!

Everyday, most of us (hopefully) get out of bed. It's because a DECISION was made--to get out of bed. Try that same strategy with that slump.

Like most things--it all starts in the mind, first. Decide, then watch that slump dissipate.

Blog Quote #612...

Here's Blog Quote #612...
"The difficult we do immediately. The impossible takes a little longer."
-United States military slogan-

In other words, impossible--IS POSSIBLE!

How's that for:
~ ~ Can't fail.
~ ~ Make it happen.
~ ~ Fall seven times, get up eight.
~ ~ Persist, persevere, and eventually-- hit paydirt.
~ ~ The little engine that could.

Perhaps that's why the U.S.military is one of thee best in the world!

Something to remember- the next time we face a significant 'challenge.' Hmm...

Here's Blog Quote #611...
"Why worry? If you've done the very best you can, worrying won't make it any better."
-Walt Disney-

Simple, FANTASTIC advice!

Less worry. More concentration, focus, effort, and attention-- on doing the very best you can.

Perhaps if we all did this (the very best we can)-there wouldn't be much time for worry?

Blog Quote #610

Here's Blog Quote #610...
"I've had my coffee. You may now speak."
-Anonymous, non morning person-

Good morning!
Let's face it.There are just some people who happen to be a tad sluggish in the morning. And others do not like to burn the candle late at night. One or the other. This discussion involves the sleepyheads.

Having a few of these 'coffee dependants' in my world at home, the best advice I can share is...

Get out of their way.
Let them get their java, and all will work out.
It is what it is. As they say-- don't fight a losing battle, or better yet--pick the ones that are worth the effort..

Be it Folgers, Maxwell House, Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks or whatever their favorite morning juice is, get it into them, before proceeding. Cups up...

Blog Quote # 609

Here's Blog Quote #609...
"The only substitute for shouting, is substance."
-Juanita Kreps-

Less yelling..
More truth, facts, proof, and validity.

Louder is usually a turnoff.
Possible insecurity. And a sign of ducks not always in a row.

Blog Quote #608

Here's blog Quote #608...
"Almost everything is more complicated than it seems, but nothing is hopeless."
-Vincent Barnett, president Colgate University-

When I first read the quote-- it made me think of how much goes on behind the scenes of anything and everything. No matter what it is we see, there is usually so many moving parts that are happening by other people to make things look smooth-- totally unaware to the casual onlooker.

Case in point. We used to own race horses. People who go bet on them they think it's an easy business. That you win 100% of the purses, you get your picture taken, and you get written about in horse magazines. They have no clue about the multitude of expenses, the vet bills, the injury to the horses, the rest they need to take parts of the year,  and so on and so forth. And how would they? It looks so glamorous on the outside. Little do they know about the other 97  intricacies that occur-upon further review.

And that's the same for the jewelry business, the real estate business, or running an ice cream shop. Nothing in life is easy. Great time, care, knowledge, and expertise need to be gathered to do almost anything. But if it was easy, what fun would that be?

In this quote, Barnett reassures us that although most things are complicated-- if one is willing to invest the time and efforts-- nothing is hopeless and most desires can be attained. We concur.

Good wisdom from the intelligent Lao Tzu.  Anyone care to agree or disagree?

Blog Quote # 606

Here's Blog Quote #606...
"I don't want to find the secret. I'm afraid all the joy will go out of it, if I find the secret."
-Bob Newhart-

Anyone remember Mr Newhart? The mellowest, straight faced comedian ever? Funny guy.

While this quote seems funny, there is some truth to it. What if 'the secret' isn't all its cracked up to be? We wait so long. We have grand visions. We have huge expectations-- then we find out what we've been waiting so long for. And it just doesn't live up to the hype & glitz we thought it would be.

So, maybe it's better to live on--and, as Newhart suggests-- not ever really find out the secret? In the meantime carry on with life, be the best you can be, live by the golden rule and be polite and nice to all people.

Maybe the secret is as simple as that. Maybe it's right in front of our face.

Blog Quote #605...

Here's Blog Quote #605...
"If you've got something to say, say it. Slowly. With effect. The audience isn't going anywhere. At least not the people you care about. No- don't waste their time.Yes- handle your message with the respect is deserves."
-Seth Godin-

Just a great reminder--If we have something important to say, don't rush through it--for whatever reason.

Some of the usual culprits are--we have monkey mind(bad self talk), fear someone isn't interested, think people are in a hurry, poor self-confidence, etc etc.

Reminds us of a Coach Wooden-ism- "Be quick, but don't hurry."

Again, if what you have to say is important--take your time, and communicate--clearly, crisply, and with concise-ness.

Here's Blog Quote #604...
"A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but its better to be thoroughly sure."
-Czech proverb-

A bit of humor here from our Czech friends.

In general--a good principle to double check things in life to be safe and sure. A wise man remain thorough; a fool-- rushed and hasty.

Blog Quote #603...

Here's Blog Quote #603...
Consider how hard it is to change yourself, and you'll understand what little chance you have-- of trying to change others."
-Jacob Braude-

WOW!
How simple and crystal clear this seems--when see in writing. Yet how many of us( yours truly guilty as charged) offer advice & suggestions, to ask/tell others - what to do, how to live, or even how to change, adapt, and mold.

Double WOW WOW!

Thank you, Jacob Braude- for this excellent, vivid, clear, realization.
I'll be thinking twice before giving my next 2 cents of 'advice.' How about you?

Blog Quote #602

Here's Blog Quote #602...
"If you're not using your smile, your like a man with a million dollars in the bank--and no checkbook."
-Les Giblin-

Smile--It's simply one of your greatest assets. It's the secret-est of secret weapons that can be used for the force of good. It's universal...everyone can relate; most all will appreciate.

In addition- one never knows the power of what it can do for another. And how badly someone else may need it--at the time.

You can give it away, for FREE. And you can keep on giving, and giving, and giving.

Just a few pretty cool reasons of a thousand--that we could have listed--to use that smile and start sharing more often.

Oh-- it also make YOU feel good too. Extra double bonus!
Thanks Les.

Blog Quote #601...

Here's Blog Quote #601...
"When things get tough and you know you just have to do/ finish/ get through something that is unpleasant-- just smile--it makes you tougher."
-Lawrence O'Toole-

When something HAS to be done...our options are:
a.) complain all the way.
b.) grit and bear it, or
c.) SMILE.

Like other 'stuff' in life, it's a mind choice. A cognitive decision. So why not put the positive spin on the mind?  It will be much more bearable, and there's a strong liklihood- that it gets completed a whole lot faster, as well.

Sounds like a pretty good strategy to me, that Mr O'Toole has formulated.
