The latter is a much more fun way to go through life. And truth be told, it's quite likely 1000 x more accurate. 

Look around and just appreciate all the happenings in a day. Nature is a great place to start. Then creatures, starting with animals, and then move to the human body and all  of its moving parts (brain, respiratory,skeletal, etc) and it functions all in sync. 

Plenty in a day to take in, and just wonder...

Like it or not, judgment of others come quickly. And sometimes harshly. 

Our best move to learn from this? When we meet someone, give them some benefit of the doubt, while also respecting our gut instinct. When someone's meeting us, as Hopkins suggests, do what we can, to present an authentic, yet pleasant experience.
