How kids learn Most Effectively...

Let's all give thanks for teachers, leaders, parents and any adults who do this for their pupils. It's the best way to help them learn- as quick and as fast and as prudent as they can. It's also called the school of hard knocks. The kids don't truly benefit from 'soft education' nice adults, who coddle and do all the heavy lifting for the student. 

The students who really advance are the ones who try, experiment, test, tweak and try again and fail and keep digging, scratching, and clawing. That's called learning by doing on your own. Also called hands on experience.

So thanks to all you teachers who further the youth's learning curve with some no nonsense, tough mentoring. In the long run, guess what? The kids will thank you as well.

Shed the dead leaves?

We love this quote yet, not totally certain what the author meant by 'dead leaves.' Perhaps it was past worries? Maybe old wounds? Could it be bad habits? Quite possibly it simply meant get rid of the dead baggage we carry around daily?

Regardless, we are eliminating something that is not good for us, going forward, so it's a positive piece of advice. What do you think Rumi meant  by 'dead leaves?'

Like watching a tree grow from a tiny acorn, children need a lot of love and daily care, and it's difficult to see results to the visible eye- yet, so much is happening inside the growth of the child. Then, all the sudden years later, the finished product begins to shine. 

It must be tough yet so rewarding when years of patience pays off for teachers. They get to look back and say, "Yeah, I played a part of that product of goodness."

Working at what you LOVE to Do

Today on Labor day, we are going to the NY State Fair to see the legendary band, 'Chicago.' These  guys first became popular in the late 1960's and early 70's and they are still rocking on, blowing their trumpets and horns, and having a ball.

It always amazes me that bands are still going strong 30,40, even 50 years later after the hard life of traveling on the road, partying, and giving all their energy on stage for performances--night in and night out. This quote speaks eloquently to perhaps how and why these bands do it. They're passionate about music and they love putting on a show for their fans. 

Here's to finding your passion and performing at something you like to do, day in and day out!
