Blog Quote #560

Here's Blog Quote #560...
"No one ever considers himself an expert if he really knows his job. A man who knows a job sees so much more to be done- than he has done--that he is always pressing forward and never gives up an instant of thought,  to how good and how efficient he is.

Thinking always ahead, thinking of always trying to do more, brings a state of mind in which NOTHING is impossible. The moment one gets into the "expert" state of mind-- a great number of things DO become impossible."
-Henry Ford-

A tad long, but full of meaning and very accurate.

I agree with most of this quote but let me add this caveat...
At some point you have to stop always pressing ahead, always striving to do better, and step back, take a breath-- recognize, appreciate and enjoy your accomplishments.

If you never do that, whats the sense? Whats it all matter for?

While I appreciate the gist of Ford's message, "always" in my opinion, should be backed down. Just a tad.

Blog Quote # 559

Here's Blog Quote #559...
"Strive to be patient, bear with the faults and frailties of others, for you too, have many faults--which others have to bear."
-Thomas Kempis, 14th century monk-

Boy does this one smack square in the face. And, it's 100% true. Be patient and withhold judgment of others.

Perhaps the modern day version of this is "Don't throw stones, if you live in a glass house."
Thanks for the perspicacious reminder, Thomas.

Blog Quote #558

Here's Blog Quote #558...
"When necessary, use words."
-St Francis of Assisi-

Be a good example to others.
In word, but especially-- in deeds and actions.

Simple, yet powerful advice...

Blog #557...

Here's blog quote # 557...
"A jealous man always finds more-- than he is looking for."
-Madeleine de Scudery-

That jealousy is a tough trait- as the deck is "pre-stacked" before anything is actually found or determined.

Probably pertains to both sexes as well?
Hmmm...

What say you-- on this interesting quote by Ms. de Scudery?

Blog Quote # 556

Here's Blog quote #556...
"What day is it? It's today, squeaked Piglet. Aah, my favorite day, said Pooh."
-A.A.Milne-

You have to love Winnie the Pooh's optimism. His living in the moment. His positivity.
Perhaps we can look at today, as OUR favorite day?

Since no one has a guarantee on tomorrow's arrival, perhaps we can be more like Pooh? Maybe we can capture his proper perspective and super attitude-- toward this day, this moment we are currently in.
Hmmm...

Blog Quote #555

Here's blog quote # 555...
There are two kinds of people in the world----those who walk into a room and say "There you are!"--and those who say "Here I am!"
-Dear Abby (Abigail Van Buren)-

Givers and takers.
Helpers and helpees.
People who think of others, and those absorbed in themselves.

It may behoove all of us, to start thinking of others more and get out of our own 'me bubble.' Besides--it's more fun to help others,  than to be helped.

Just a thought.

Blog Quote # 554

Here's blog quote # 554...
You can't steal second base and keep one foot on first."
-Unnamed 60 yr old junior executive-

Risk-- reward..
Taking chances.
Perhaps you've seen the quote by Mark Twain , "Go out on a limb for that's where the fruit is."
Or  "A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are built for" by William Shedd.

Either you stay on first and play it safe, or you gamble a bit and  try to steal second.
Like dipping your toe in a cool pond. Either you go for it, or you don't.

We say--  'go for it.'. We are here on this planet for a short time, then dead for a long time. Why not? Calculate, then take a chance. Sometimes it's more fun.

And you may just be surprised-- at the positive outcomes that may follow?

Blog Quote #553

Here's blog quote #553...
"The only time you are allowed to use the word 'can't'  when pursuing your dream,  is when you are saying the word 'miss' immediately after it."
-Jerry Freking-

We've all heard the line  there is no ' I '  in TEAM.
Well...can't miss sounds quite a bit better than can't.

In fact, when you remove the ' t ' from can't-- a whole bunch of doors and possibilities start to open up.
Pretty amazing.  Try it...

Blog Quote #552

Here's Blog quote #552...
"We should always seek to simplify, but not oversimplify."
-Albert Einstein-

Aah... the world-- getting more and more complex by the minute. Technology is supposed to be making things simpler, and to some extent it does, yet in other areas  we can all do more now, so we add more. That's not simplifying. In fact, perhaps it's the leading cause to why so many are STRESSED OUT?

A thesaurus shows these entries for simplify:
To make simpler, boil down, streamline, abridge, reduce, uncomplicate.

We are all for saying what you have to say, getting your point across, but do it with brevity and clarity. In a world with hundreds of thousands of pieces of information coming at us on a weekly basis,  keep it simple. Leave the complex for the Mensa classes, or people specifically looking for a more challenging discussion or explanation.

Blog Quote #551

Here's blog quote #551...
"Your temper is one of your most valuable possessions. Don't lose it."
-Anonymous-

We've all lost our temper, at one time or another, correct?
How many times did something good come of it?
Most likely, the consequences were not favorable.

Good little 'play on words'--of wisdom-- for today.
Enough said...

Blog Quote #550

Here's Blog Quote #550...
"It's not what you gather, but what you scatter --that tells what kind of life you've lived.'
-Unknown-

This a quick hitter, yet rather deep.
Some live by he who gathers the most toys,  wins.
Others know that there is no brinks truck following their hearse on the way to the cemetery.

Did we make the world a better place than we found it? Did we spend our lives helping others and seeing how we could add more goodness to the planet?

Some believe there is a much better afterlife to follow, and others think 'this is it'-- so go hard and fast,  and have a ball.

This one... is left up to each individual to make their own choices. Regardless, this quote likely makes most of us-- stop and think.

Blog Quote #549

Here's Blog quote #549...
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."
-W.B. Yeats-

Some of the best teachers inspire rather than read out of a book. They reach the soul rather than have students memorize formulas. They stir passion and excitement inside the mind of a youth, rather than going through the motions and treating all school-ers the same.

Ask people what teachers they remember, and most likely, you'll hear about the educators that somehow, were able to get to the core of that young student.

Help people dream, desire, think outside the box, wonder, stretch, and say 'why not?,' rather than I don't know if/ how that will work.

Thank you to all teachers across the planet-- who light fires daily, in the minds and spirits of those looking to further educate themselves.
