Blog Quote #585...

Here's Blog Quote#585...
"People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought-- which they avoid."
-Sored Aabte Kierkegaard (1813-1855)-

Here's a quote to excogitate and chew on for a bit.

All I remember- is Mom telling me two hundred and seven times..."THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK"

Blog Quote #584

Here's Blog Quote #584...
"A man wrapped up all in himself makes a small parcel."
-BBC Radio-

This is one rare exception to the old adage... 'good things come in small packages.'

Not many  raving fans of these type people, who are conceited and full of themselves.

Blog Quote #583

Here's Blog Quote #583...
"Sandwich every bit of criticism- between two layers of praise."
-Mary Kay Ash-

This, from a woman who knows a thing or two- about building relationships. Ms. Ash is basically telling us--"If you have to give criticism, soften it a bit."

It helps people take it better, if you deliver some  positive news along with the critique. Usually, if you look hard enough, there is some good that you can sprinkle in with the bad news. And many times-- that good you find, it's long overdue--getting back to the person who deserves it.

Criticism travels at about 20 times the speed of compliments. Not proud of that statement, but it's more accurate than false. Let's all see what we can do, to change that.

Blog Quote #582

Here's Blog Quote #582...
"Once in a century a man may be ruined or made insufferable by praise. But surely once in a minute, something generous dies, for want of it."
-John Masefield-

Praise--- who doesn't want it?

Why so rare?
Why so hard to share?
Why so difficult to care?

It doesn't cost a penny, yet it's worth it's weight,  x 10, in gold.

Suggestion: Try praising someone today. See what happens.

Blog Quote #581

Here's Blog Quote #581...
"We live in a society where pizza gets to your house before the police."
-Anonymous-

Was in the mood for a funny quote today.

And this is by no means a slam at law enforcement. Tough field, and I believe most do an incredible job- for the challenges they have. Nutsy times we live in today.

What this is a pun at-- is how fast and frenzied our society has become. Instant gratification for all. Perhaps it started back with "Daddy I want an Oompa Loompa , and I want it now," said Veruca Salt of Willy Wonka fame.

On the go, on the run. We want things, pronto! The fast food industry has responded very well to this; truly living up to it's name.

Oops, gotta go---I ordered a pizza just before typing this and the delivery man is at the door...

Blog Quote #580

Here's Blog Quote #580...
"Belief is the closest thing that a human being can get---to performing actual magic."
-Scott Smith-

Wow-- very powerful thoughts by Mr Smith.

When you think about it, how many accomplishments are actually made, without belief? Probably slim pickins there.

On the flip side, think of all the incredibly amazing things that get done, every day, by people who have steadfast belief in what they are attempting to do-- and actually do it!

'Ya gatta believe!'

Walt Disney had it. Ray Croc of Mc Donald's had it. Olympic athletes have it.
If we want to get things done...we all should have belief too!

Blog Quote #579

Here's Blog Quote #579...
"I don't know that there are real ghosts and goblins, but there are always more trick or treaters, than neighborhood kids."
-Robert Brault-

Ok-- we are a little late on this one, but still it's pretty funny. As for the validity of Mr Brault's comments--- we'll leave up to you to decide.

Happy belated Halloween!

Blog Quote #578

Here's Blog Quote #578...
"I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see.Now my troubles-- are going to have trouble with me."
-Dr Seuss-

What a great reminder to us all that troubles are everywhere, for everyone. We are not alone, and yes, we all have them. And they come from all over-- our past, our present, and certainly to come in the future.
But Seuss reminds us that:
a.) it's OK to acknowledge them   and
b.) to take them head on

Put fear away, and confront our problems. For half of people's stress and headaches, come from the worry, and the inaction-- of addressing problems.

Like Seuss says-- 'grab the bat,'  go on the offensive, and let your problems know who is boss. Take them on, deal with, and move through them.

Bonus note: We all learn from our problems and challenges and eventually become stronger and wiser!  Bring 'em on!

Blog Quote #577

Here's Blog Quote #577...
"Someone who is proud of their humility, probably doesn't really have it."
-unknown-

There are two words, that normally don't go together--PROUD and HUMILITY.

Generally speaking... it's a good thing to be proud. Not cocky, not  brash, super over confident, or presumptuous--but prideful.

Humility is always a sought after trait. Even Albert Einstein was noted, saying "A true genius admits that he/she knows nothing."

So, the lesson here is --- these are two excellent qualities to seek after. Just not together.

Blog Quote #576

Here's Blog Quote #576...
"The man who has done his best, has done everything."
-Charles Schwab-

If you ask a person of something and they give it their all...
They exert 100% effort...
They do the best that they can do,and try their earnest...

What more could you ask of someone?

We only wish more would do this, and the entire world would benefit-- in ways beyond our wildest imaginations.
