Quote #88, My Thoughts and YOUR thoughts

I love Quotes. I love them because they make me think. What does the quoter mean? Why did he/she write this? Is there a message to get through to the reader/the world? What did YOU initially think when you read it?

Here goes blog quotes #88....

"There are two things to aim at in life; first, to get what you want, and after that, to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind has achieved the second."

-Logan Pearsall Smith-

First things first. No relation between Logan and I :) .

We could analyze the statement "to get what you want". Do we really even know WHAT IT IS that we want? That's another discussion. Let's assume we do.

I think what LP Smith is getting at here are the lucky few who appreciate what they have EARNED and are smart enough to enjoy it. So many of us work like dogs to finally achieve some goal that we've been at for some time. Once it's accomplished, do we really enjoy it?

Or...do we now say it wasn't enough and go back for more? Or.. do we realize all we were working towards wasn't that great after all, and not even enjoyable? Or...are we just too busy getting to the top of that proverbial mountain, and not 'enjoying the climb'?

When all is finally in the books, is there any sense in "getting what you want", if you CAN'T ENJOY IT?

That's my view....... What say YOU?

The CLIMB is the PROCESS of LIFE. And the most important thing is to enjoy life no matter where you are on this climb. BUT now reading my words, I do not like the word "Climb" although many of us do CLIMB while others just "float" through life. Are you a floater or a climber?? The MAIN thing though is to LOVE life and ENJOY the NOW, since the NOW is really ALL WE HAVE. AND YES I personally enjoy it, whatever the IT is, cause if I do not enjoy "it"....it is my own fault. There is always something to love about "it"

Back in 2004 was a great year for me! It was my "50th" birthday year! I saved & saved. On my 50th birthday I was at Carters of Diamonds in Murfreesburo, ARkansas! I didn't find a diamond but I really enjoyed myself with my friends! Then in the first of Sept I spent a week in California... I went to San Francisco, Yosemite Park, Monterey - Carmel & other places! Then around Thanksgiving I was near Phoenix visiting my sister & her family!
Too many people work & work to achieve the first but when it comes time for the second... to enjoy it they never seem to make it!
I pray everyone can enjoy what they work hard to get!
