Making GREAT, even GREATER?? But How?

Blog quote #741...

"The goal was never to beat the competition, or to make a lot of money. It was to do the greatest thing possible...or even a little greater."
-Andy Hertzfeld, talking about Apple Computers-
Funny how when you focus on making greatness and working to the best of your abilities, the money and the flood of customers to your door, usually takes care of itself. Great lesson here from one of the best companies in the business world.
Also, here's a question :
How do you 'one up' the greatest thing possible? How does one think to make it even greater? Kind mind blowing- isn't it?
Thanks for being the creative, genius, free wheeling, what's possible, outside the box thinking people that you are, Andy Hertzfeld and crew at Apple computers. Awesome.

DIRT...why it's so important in life.

Blog quote #740...

"Every  flower must grow through dirt."
-Seen on a poster-
What a fantastic reminder that LIFE is pretty tough. For everyone. Even a flower. Just need to keep plugging and chugging.

Or if flower terms  keep pushing up, spreading out, and continue to grow. The dirt, like adversity is needed for us to turn out as good as we eventually do.

So along the way embrace the dirt  and  other challenges life throws at us, for, in the end, it's all part of 'the plan' that makes us beautiful and strong. Like a flower.

Having a Bad Day...?

Blog quote #739...

"When nothing goes right...go left."
-Seen on a poster-
We've all had those days. And  unfortunately  they will surface again. It's called life.
What to do?

Do as the poster suggests.
Change directions. Do something different. Turn around. Change things up. Stir the pot.

Are YOU the Fool?

Blog quote #738...

"If you're playing a poker game and you look around the table and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you."
-Paul Newman-
Any poker players out there?
Anyone agree?

Are you Living for Today?

Blog quote #737...

"I live a day at a time. Each day I look for a kernel of excitement. In the morning, I say: "What's my exciting thing for today?" Then, I do the day. Don't ask me about tomorrow."
-Barbara Jordan, author-
How many people are so busy wondering what they are doing next Tuesday, or still mumbling about what happened last week?
I think Barbara is onto something here. The old prayer "Give us our DAILY bread..." said a mouthful. Concentrate on today. It's the present and should be given its due respect. The past is in the books and the future will come soon enough...we all know that.
Enjoy the day, and all its worth and beauty. That's how real living is done. Thanks to Ms. Jordan for the reminder.

Just One More Reason to Be Happy...

Blog quote #736...

"Nobody really cares if you are miserable, so you might as well be happy."
-Cynthia Nelms-
Not sure this is entirely true, but probably has some merit. Another guy I knew used to say  "No sense in complaining, nobody wants to hear it anyway."
With that stated, perhaps it's reason #129  why we should make an effort to be positive and happy versus negative and miserable. There doesn't seem to be many reasons to champion a poor attitude.
Anyone else care to weigh in here?

Give yourself CREDIT...

Blog quote #735...

"Too many people overvalue what they are not, and undervalue what they are."
-Malcolm Forbes-
We took Forbes to mean here that most of us focus on out poor or negative qualities and deeds, and do not give ourselves credit for the good.  This doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to always improve and correct our faults and shortcomings.
The suggestion here is don't use yourself as a punching bag and don't forget to give yourself a little pat on the back occasionally. At the end of the day, most of us have done a few good things and others have done many things well.
Keep striving for 'better' certainly.  In addition, remind yourself  to give credit where credit is due now and then. You'll find it both refreshing and energizing.
